Indulgent Chocolate Milkshake

Take this cooling classic to the next level with our decadent EXCELLENCE 70% cocoa dark chocolate. The perfect treat for a sunny summer day.


Chocolatier’s Tip

When in season, plump and juicy cherries add a wonderful burst of flavour to these decadent milkshakes. Swap for blueberries, strawberries, blackberries or raspberries depending on what is in season when you make these. You could also add a sprinkling of toasted nuts (chopped hazelnuts and almonds work well) for a bit of a crunch. If making this recipe for someone following a gluten free diet, always check the manufacturer's label to ensure your ingredients are free from gluten.

  • For the chocolate sauce:
  • 150 ml double cream
  • 200 g Lindt EXCELLENCE 70% Cocoa Dark Chocolate, finely chopped
  • 25 g butter
  • For the milkshake:
  • 1 L milk
  • 8 scoops of good quality chocolate ice cream
  • To decorate:
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh cherries (see Tip)
  • Lindt EXCELLENCE 70% Cocoa Chocolate, finely chopped


Step 1.

Put 4 tall glasses in the fridge to chill. Pour the cream into a saucepan and gently bring to a simmer. Stir in the chopped chocolate until smooth and melted.

Step 2.

Remove the pan from the heat and gradually whisk in the butter until smooth and glossy. Pour into a jug and set aside.

Step 3.

Pour the milk into a blender, add the ice cream, and blitz until smooth.

Step 4.

Drizzle the chocolate sauce around the sides of the 4 tall chilled glasses (rotating the glass at an angle as you do this). Pour in the blitzed chocolate ice cream and milk mix.

Step 5.

Top with whipped cream and drizzle with extra chocolate sauce. Finish with a fresh cherry and a sprinkling of finely chopped chocolate. Serve straight away.
