Quick and Easy Vegan Hot Chocolate

Chocolatier’s Tip

You can get creative and adjust this recipe to suit your tastes. Try using different plant-based milks or serving with different chocolates for dipping (we have a host of vegan chocolate bars including a range of mellow milk chocolates alongside our intense EXCELLENCE collection - our 70%, 85%, 90% and 99% are all vegan-friendly), or a sprinkling of vegan-friendly mini marshmallows for decorating.

  • 450 ml barista oat milk (see Tip)
  • 4 heaped tbsp Lindt Hot Chocolate
  • About 75 ml vegan whipping cream
  • To serve:
  • 1-2 squares Lindt EXCELLENCE 70% Dark Chocolate, finely chopped
  • 2-4 squares Lindt EXCELLENCE 70% Dark Chocolate, to serve (see Tip)


Step 1.

Pour the oat milk into a pan and set over a medium heat, stirring gently until simmering. Alternatively, pour into a microwave-save jug and heat for about 2 minutes (or until simmering).

Step 2.

Meanwhile, whisk your vegan whipping cream to soft peaks. Set aside.

Step 3.

Add the Lindt Hot Chocolate to your simmering milk and mix with a spoon to combine. Use a hand blender or handheld milk frother to foam the milk a little, if wished.

Step 4.

Pour into heat-proof mugs, top with the vegan whipped cream, and a sprinkling of finely chopped Lindt Chocolate on top. Serve with a square (or two!) of Lindt EXCELLENCE 70% Dark Chocolate.
